From the Editor: VIA 2016
The Spring 2016 issue of VIA was released on April 15, 2015. Each year that VIA exists we gain from the perspectives of various Saint Louis University students from all over the the nation and the world. This issue has disciplines represented as broad as political science, psychology, philosophy, sociology, public health, and English. The projects were interested in places such as Britain, Haiti, Italy, and Kazakhstan among others. The themes emerging from this issue are healthy choices, women's rights, film interpretation, comparing the present to the past, and issues of social justice. Once again, we received more overall submissions than the previous years. It has been exciting to see our expansion in all the avenues, such as staff and submissions. A debut to the journal this year is a publication each from the winner and runner-up of the University Academic Multimedia Writing Contest (sponsored by Saint Louis University's Writing Services) that demonstrates value of our SLU education through student work portfolios. As a academic journal striving for excellent writers, we value this new connection to a service that celebrates writing as we do.
Thank you again to all that submitted, our audience, and our staff. With this year being my second year as Editor-in-Chief, VIA has become a part of me. I contributed to its growth as it has contributed to my own growth. It is with heaviness that I say goodbye to this wonderful journal, but I look forward to others giving and taking from VIA as I have been able to. That is how we will know progress.
